Whether you are just starting out in business or whether you’ve an established company you have to make decisions about how to pay the people who work for you.  The IRS makes determinations as to whether those who work for you are “sub-contractors” who receive “1099 wages” and are responsible for their own taxes or “employees” who must have wages withheld for taxes.  If you have decided to withhold taxes and pay unemployment taxes on those who work for you, you now have to decide how to handle your “payroll”.  There are several options available to  you. The entire payroll process is very complicated.  There are many different aspects and there is an huge amount of record keeping involved.  There are several national companies who will handle your payroll from “birth to death” including cutting the checks, making tax deposits, preparing tax forms, etc.  These companies tend to be on the expensive side and are notorious for constant errors. Adding payroll to your company does not have to be expensive or stressful.  I can completely set up your payroll, make sure that your employees are paid accurately and seamlessly, handle all the record keeping, make the tax deposits and prepare all the quarterly and annual tax reports for a fraction of the cost of those outside services.
